ALERT PUBLIC FORUM

WHO CARES ABOUT LYMPHOEDEMA?

In recognition of World Lymphoedema Day, ALERT held a free public forum for patients and their families on Monday 5 March 2018. The event consisted of 7 short presentations focusing on different aspects of lymphoedema treatment and management.

ALERT EDUCATION EVENING - WEDNESDAY 7 AUGUST 2019

Chairperson: Ms Louise Koelmeyer, Acting Director, ALERT

Special guest: Dr Sheila Ridner, Martha Rivers Ingram Professor of Nursing at VUSN.

Dr. Ridner is the Principal Investigator of the Vanderbilt University Lymphoedema Early Detection Clinical Trial known as 'Prevent', in which Macquarie University is the only participating university outside the US. We have contributed the highest number of trial subjects (450) to the total cohort of 1,100 women.

Dr Ridner gave two presentations:

Dr Ridner's presentations were followed by a panel of lymphoedema experts, Dr Sheila Ridner, Dr Helen Mackie and Ms Fiona Tisdall Blake, PT and Lymphoedema Therapist.

Special guest: Professor Vaughan Keeley

Professor Vaughan Keeley is a Consultant Physician who works full-time in lymphoedema. He leads the lymphoedema service in Derby, Nottingham and Mansfield, UK. Vaughan chairs the British Lymphology Society/Lymphoedema Support Network consensus group which has produced guidelines on the management of cellulitis in lymphoedema.

Professor Keeley's presentation is about cellulitis in lymphoedema.
