Botulinum toxin is a natural protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulism. It is used to temporarily relax a targeted muscle. Botox has been approved and registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration for specified uses only. Only a registered health professional (specialist, doctor or nurse) who has undergone appropriate training is able to administer Botox.

What is Botox used for?
  • blepharospam (uncontrolled blinking)
  • strabismus (lazy eye)
  • hemifacial spasm and VIIth nerve disorders crow's feet (lines that radiate from the corners of the eyes)
  • forehead lines (horizontal lines across the forehead)
  • glabellar frown lines (frown lines between the eyebrows).
When can you not have Botox?
  • if you suffer from Myasthenia Gravis
  • if you suffer from Lambert-Eaton Syndrome
  • during pregnancy
  • when breastfeeding.
What cannot be treated with Botox?

Creases and lines caused by sun damage and gravity.

How is a Botox treatment performed?

Botox is injected into specific muscles with a very fine needle. The actual injection may sting for a few seconds. There is no downtime, so you can resume most of your normal activities as soon as you leave the clinic (with some exceptions, as listed in the Botox post-treatment care).

How long does a Botox treatment last?

The onset of treatment effects can become apparent in two to three days but it can take up to fourteen days to see the full effects of your Botox treatment. Treatment results will last approximately three to six months. Muscle action will slowly return, and lines and wrinkles will begin to reappear. Discuss your Botox treatment plan with your specialist.

What is the difference between Botox and fillers?

Botox is used to relax muscles. Fillers are used to increase the volume of tissue underneath skin lines and folds.

Can I have Botox and fillers at the same time?

Yes. Talk to your specialist about when a combination treatment of Botox and fillers may be beneficial.

Brow lift surgery is used to reduce the horizontal and vertical frown lines that develop on the forehead. The procedure removes loose skin to soften facial lines and elevate droopy eyebrows, resulting in a rejuvenated, younger appearance of the brow.

Three different techniques are available, including a minimally invasive approach with endoscopic instruments for suitable patients.

A brow lift can be performed in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift or eyelid lift to harmonise the overall facial aesthetic.

Ear reshaping surgery (Otoplasty) is commonly performed to correct ears that are protruding or over-prominent, may not have developed correctly (congenital malformations), or have been subject to injury or trauma.

Eyelid lift surgery (Blepharoplasty) improves the aesthetics around the eyes by reducing drooping or protruding eyelids that are characteristic of the ageing process. During the procedure, small incisions are made in the upper and lower eyelids, and excess fat and skin removed or redistributed. Very fine sutures are used to close the wounds.

Blepharoplasty is often combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as facelift and neck lift.

Facelift surgery (Meloplasty) involves tightening and elevating the facial muscles and skin of the mid and lower face. In some cases this may also involve removing or repositioning excess facial fat and muscle.

Neck lift surgery (Cervicoplasty) improves the appearance of the neck and under the jaw line by reducing excess skin. The procedure can involve liposuction to remove excess fat deposits from the neck. Some excess skin is also removed through the incisions near the ears.

Our surgeons are trained in the latest techniques and, based on your individual preferences and case, they can determine the best approach for you. Current facelift techniques are sophisticated and able to achieve a long-lasting natural result.

Patients typically choose facelift surgery in their 50s or early 60s, however, this surgery can be considered earlier or later depending on your individual ageing process.

This surgical procedure moves a patient’s own fat cells to certain areas on the face, giving more volume and enhancing the youthful appearance of the face.

Fat cells are removed from the thigh or abdomen, then specially prepared and placed carefully in to an area with a contour deformity to achieve a long-lasting effect. Small sutures are removed after about a week and antibiotics are given to prevent infection.

Overall – because this procedure uses the patient’s own tissue – allergic reactions do not occur, making the procedure relatively safe.

Often a series of fat injections are required to achieve an end-point in treatment.

Nose reshaping (Rhinoplasty) improves on the shape of your nose to enhance its appearance or to address unnatural changes to shape due to injury in sports, accidents or other causes. In addition to redefining nose size and profile, rhinoplasties are performed to achieve subtle changes to other parts of the face to best fit your desired nasal shape and overall facial proportioning.

Rhinoplasty also plays an important role in correcting nasal obstructions or breathing problems that might develop due to structural abnormalities causing a deviation of the cartilage or bone of the nose. Nose surgery is best performed after the age of 18 years, when the nasal and facial growth has reached maturity. It can be done under general anaesthetic or sedation, depending on the patient and procedure.
