A comprehensive approach to breast cancer
Macquarie University Health offers a patient-centred breast cancer service, providing seamless care from diagnosis to recovery.
At the heart of this service is our dedicated Breast Surgery Unit, where expert surgeons coordinate every stage of the journey, supported by onsite imaging, pathology, and physiotherapy within our medical precinct.
Working closely with oncology, radiology, lymphoedema services, and specialised support programs, our multidisciplinary team delivers timely, coordinated care using advanced surgical techniques and research-driven approaches, ensuring the best possible outcomes and compassionate support.
Our team is dedicated to providing holistic, patient-centric care in order to improve patient outcomes and comprehensive integrated care for all aspects of breast health, including breast cancer management.
Ongoing management and care are coordinated through our regular multidisciplinary team meetings.
We provide the following services:
- breast surgery
- clinical trials
- medical Oncology
- radiation Oncology (Icon Cancer Centre)
- radiology (MMI)
- reconstructive surgery
- wellness services such as: psychology, lymphoedema (ALERT) and physiotherapy.
All our surgeons provide oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery and are members of the Australia-New Zealand Specialist Society for Breast Surgery, BreastSurgANZ.

Patients benefit from a multidisciplinary team approach, with weekly case reviews to guide personalised care.
On-site integration of medical and radiation oncology allows for seamless treatment planning, while a range of surgical options – including oncoplastic, reconstructive, and minimally invasive techniques ensures tailored, patient-centred care.
As the primary point of contact for patients, our McGrath breast care nurse provides physical and emotional support to patients and their families from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.
The position is also responsible for building awareness, services and best practice models in breast cancer care.
