Bringing the best outcomes to our patients

Macquarie University Hospital offers a new era in Australian healthcare.

Based on leading international university hospitals, our 144-bed facility fully integrates clinical practice with research and education.

Cancellation of elective surgery excluding Emergency, Category 1 and urgent Category 2 surgery

The NSW Government has issued a directive that non-urgent elective surgery will be temporarily suspended across NSW for critical private hospital operators as of Monday, 23 August.

Only emergency surgery, Category 1 elective surgeries (needed within 30 days) and urgent Category 2 elective surgery (if it is assessed that patients could deteriorate and require an emergency admission within 30 days) will continue until further notice.

Decisions on the category of patients are at the discretion of their specialist. If you are considering or are scheduled for surgery, please discuss your procedure with your specialist.

The Government has made this difficult decision due to the strain that the current COVID-19 outbreak has placed on the NSW health system. This decision will ensure resources are available to manage critical health care needs across the State.
