HCF and MUH No-Gap Joint Replacement Program T&Cs

A list of the terms and conditions associated with the HCF and Macquarie University Hospital's No-Gap Joint Replacement Program, are listed below.

• Eligible HCF members must be accepted into the program in line with clinical criteria by a participating orthopaedic surgeon and Macquarie University Hospital on a patient by patient basis. Excludes any excess payable.
• Eligible HCF members will need to have HCF hospital cover including first time (primary) hip and knee replacements for 12 months (excluding Overseas Health Cover).
• Eligible HCF members and must hold a valid Medicare card.
• Providers listed are orthopaedic surgeons who are participating in the ‘HCF and Macquarie University Hospital No-Gap Joint Replacement Program’ at Macquarie University Hospital. The surgeon and hospital will work with eligible members to decide if the program is right for them and their health needs. However, if the surgeon refers a member to a non-participating hospital, any such procedure will not be part of the  No-Gap Joint Replacement Program and the member may incur out-of-pocket costs.
• Macquarie University Hospital will provide rehabilitation services for a period of up to ten weeks from the time the HCF member has been discharged from Macquarie University Hospital or until at least six weeks has passed since the date of discharge and the HCF member has reached the goals of the recovery plan determined by your care team or whichever occurs first.
• Rehabilitation service providers for the No-Gap Joint Replacement Program will be determined by the participating orthopaedic surgeon and Macquarie University Hospital. If a HCF member chooses a non-participating provider, the HCF member may incur out of pocket costs.
• The No-Gap Joint Replacement Program covers the cost of your participating orthopaedic surgeon for your first time (primary) hip or knee replacement procedure at Macquarie University Hospital and subsequent post-surgical follow up consultations for the period of the program.
• The No-Gap Joint Replacement Program does not cover bilateral joint replacement surgeries.
• You must undergo your joint replacement surgery before the planned trial end date. The HCF and MUH No-Gap Joint Replacement Program will end 30 September 2023 at Macquarie University Hospital.
