Medibank and MUH No-Gap Joint Replacement Program T&Cs

A list of the terms and conditions associated with the Medibank and Macquarie University Hospital's No-Gap Joint Replacement Program, are listed below.

• Eligible Medibank members must be accepted into the program in line with clinical criteria by a participating orthopaedic surgeon and Macquarie University Hospital on a patient by patient basis. Excludes any excess payable. The Medibank hospital excess may apply depending on your level of Medibank cover and if it is your first hospital stay in the calendar year.
• Eligible Medibank members will need to have residents hospital cover including hip and knee replacements for 12 months.
• Eligible Medibank members and must hold a valid Medicare card.
• Providers listed are orthopaedic surgeons who are participating in the ‘Medibank and Macquarie University Hospital No-Gap Joint Replacement Program’ at Macquarie University Hospital. The surgeon and hospital will work with eligible members to decide if the program is right for them and their health needs. However, if the surgeon refers a member to a non-participating hospital, any such procedure will not be part of the  No-Gap Joint Replacement Program and the member may incur out-of-pocket costs.
• Your participating surgeon will work with you to decide if you need rehabilitation after your surgery and if so, what type of rehabilitation is right for you. If clinically appropriate, your surgeon may refer you to Medibank@Home who can deliver rehabilitation in the comfort of your home. If rehabilitation care in an in-patient setting is required, your hospital accommodation at a Members Choice Hospital will be covered with no out of-pocket costs. There may be costs associated  if you are treated by a Rehabilitation Physician or require diagnostic tests, however the doctor will need to provide you with Informed Financial Consent. If you elect to receive rehabilitation services other than Medibank@Home or a Members Choice hospital, out-patient costs may apply.
• AHM members should contact Medibank to enquire if they are eligible.
• Outpatient diagnostic tests (including scans and blood tests) are not included in the program.
